Talent Triangle

The Project Management Institute (PMI) uses a PMI Talent Triangle® with three different areas of competence that every project manager needs and should continuously develop. These are also important for recertification as a Project Management Professional (PMP)® and as a Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)®.

The 3 areas of competence for further education are:

  • Ways of Working (formerly Technical Project Management), i.e. project management methods
  • Power Skills (formerly Leadership), i.e., the leadership and communication skills of a project manager
  • Business Acumen (Strategic and Business Management), general management understanding

For PMP, you must earn at least 35 PDUs through continuing education during the three-year certification cycle, collecting at least 8 PDUs per competence area.

For CAPM® a total of 15 PDUs issufficient, regardless of the competence area.

PMP, CAPM, PMI and the PMI Talent Triangle and the PMI Talent Triangle image are marks of the Project Management Institute, Inc.
