With more than 55,000 members in 50 countries, the International Project Management Association (IPMA) originates from the European Project Management Association. The German representative is the German Association for Project Management (GPM), which has in excess of 5700 members. Its certification body PM-ZERT issues GPM-accredited project management certificates. These include the following certificates based on complementary levels or expertise

Level D: Certified Poject Management Associate

Level D is the most common certification — both nationally and internationally — of the 4-level IPMA certification system. It is an entry-level certificate directed at junior project managers, prospective project managers, project staff and others. It allows people with relatively little project management experience to achieve a qualified verification of their project management knowledge. More than 136,000 Level D ce


Level B: Certified Senior Project Manager

Level B certification is aimed at project managers with several years’ experience in complex projects. Globally around 13,000 Level B certificates have been issued, including 600 in Germany.


Level A: Certified Projects Director

Level A certificates are rare. Only around 355 have been issued worldwide.
