The seminar is aimed at project managers, sub-project managers, PMOs and managers who want to successfully lead and motivate teams – regardless of whether they already have management experience or are new to the role.

Leadership in a project means involving a wide variety of employees in the project in such a way that the project goals are achieved. This includes delegating tasks, motivating employees, dealing well with different people and gaining acceptance within the project management team. This management task requires special personal qualifications and leadership skills, as project managers are usually not disciplinary superiors.

Even if it is not yet seen as such in some companies: Every project manager must be able to lead their employees in the project and therefore needs leadership skills. If you only develop beautiful project plans without being able to lead, you will never achieve your project goals.

There is no universal difference between the two terms. However, many companies in German-speaking countries use the two terms to represent a hierarchy for larger projects. In this case, the project manager is usually responsible for a larger project, and a project leader is responsible for a part of it, such as technical feasibility.

You will learn how to lead your team confidently, communicate goals clearly and fulfill your leadership role convincingly. You will learn how to promote motivation, recognize conflicts at an early stage and keep your team engaged even in difficult project phases. Practice-oriented exercises will help you to further develop your own leadership style.

The Leading as a Project Manager seminar takes place either as a face-to-face or live online seminar.

• Live online seminar: Start is at 8:30 am, end around 5:30 pm.
• Face-to-face seminar: The seminar starts at 9:00 a.m. on the first day and at 8:30 a.m. on the following days. The seminar usually ends at 17:30, on the last day at 17:00.

There is a lunch break and flexible breaks in between – depending on the exercise situation and the motivation of the group.

All formats are interactive, practical and include many concrete exercises:

• Live online seminar: You work on exercises in small groups via MS Teams, use Miroboard, AI tools, Slido and other digital exercise formats.
• Classroom seminar: In bright and friendly seminar rooms, you will work on exercises in small groups, experience a wide range of practical examples and have space to exchange experiences. The atmosphere is collegial, structured and open to your specific questions.

The group size is deliberately kept small to allow for individual feedback, intensive practice and personal exchange. This allows you to develop your leadership skills in a targeted manner.

Yes, the seminar is designed for classic, agile and hybrid projects and highlights the different leadership situations. In the end, it is always about leading people in the project to joint success.

The seminar is offered in German and English as standard. For in-house events, we can also conduct the seminar in Spanish.

Basic knowledge of project management is helpful, but not essential.
