For the PMP exam, it is important to have solid experience in projects and project management. You should also be able to put yourself in the shoes of others in a wide variety of project situations that may extend beyond your own previous project scope.

It’s not just about memorizing methods and terms. You need to understand how to apply project management knowledge in different situations and which approach makes sense in each case.

Effective preparation consists of three elements: First, you should understand the relevant concepts and relationships in project management; next, you should practice typical exam situations and questions; and finally, you should thoroughly familiarize yourself with the specific features of the PMP exam.

It’s especially helpful to work through many realistic exam questions and then understand why an answer is right or wrong. This will help you gradually develop a sense of how the PMP exam approaches project situations and what approach is expected in each case.

In our PMP seminars, we therefore combine teaching the relevant material with real-world project scenarios and targeted exam preparation.

The questions on the PMP exam are not trivial and are difficult to answer without thorough preparation.

These are not primarily questions of pure knowledge, but rather situational questions. You are presented with a specific project scenario and several possible answers. While multiple answers may be correct in principle, the goal is to identify the best or most appropriate answer for the situation described.

Memorizing content won’t help you much on the exam. What matters most is that you understand the principles and concepts of project management and can apply them to different project situations.

That depends largely on your previous experience with various projects. The more different project situations you’ve already encountered, the less additional learning effort is generally required.

Typically, you should expect to spend about 20 to 80 hours on additional preparation—in addition to the 35-hour preparatory seminar.

At the beginning of your preparation, you should use exam questions primarily to identify gaps in your knowledge. Every question you answer incorrectly is an opportunity to learn something new and improve your understanding.

Toward the end of your preparation, you should gradually start taking full-length practice exams. If you consistently answer about 70 to 75 percent or more of the questions correctly, that’s a good sign that you’re well prepared for the exam.

As early as the first training module, you’ll discover which topics are familiar to you and where you still have gaps in your knowledge.

You can specifically work on these gaps between the first and second training modules. That way, by the time you start the second module, you’ll already be familiar with much of the material and can focus more on deepening your understanding, applying what you’ve learned, and preparing for exam situations.

Learning between modules is therefore not just additional material to study “just in case,” but rather a way to address your specific knowledge gaps.

You have the opportunity to take the exam up to three times within one year. There is a small fee for each additional attempt. However, our experience shows that the failure rate is extremely low—most of our participants pass the exam on their first try. If you do not pass the exam on your first attempt, you will usually succeed on your second try.

You can either take advantage of free individual coaching, where we work together on the crucial points, or you can take part in the 2nd module of the next PMP seminar free of charge. This will give you the opportunity to deepen your knowledge and work towards the next exam.

The PMP is designed for experienced project managers who have already led or been responsible for projects. To be eligible, you must demonstrate relevant practical experience. The CAPM is better suited for beginners or individuals who want to demonstrate a structured understanding of the fundamentals of project management. In short: CAPM is the gateway to the PMI world, while PMP is the international certification of experience in professional project management.

If you want to take the PMP exam in German, you don’t need any special knowledge of English.
If you decide to take the exam in English, you should be able to confidently understand technical texts as well as business and everyday project situations. Neither language has a fundamental advantage or disadvantage—choose the option in which you can grasp the questions and answer choices the fastest.
