The Project Management Institute (PMI)® has published several standardization documents, of which “A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide)” is the most important. The PMBOK® Guide is now recognized worldwide as the most important set of standards in project management and is the basis for certification as Project Management Professionals (PMP)® and Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)®.
The PMBOK® Guide describes all process steps of professional project management from the initiation, the planning, the execution, the controlling to the closing processes. Further it contains detailed information on methods and techniques for managing scale, time, expenses, risk, quality, staff, communication and purchasing in projects.
The PMBOK® Guide is available in bookstores or directly on the PMI® website if you are a PMI®member. At present the PMBOK® Guide is available in 7 different languages.
The new PMBOK® Guide, version 6 is now available. The new Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide) is better, more understandable, more up-to-date – and of course much more comprehensive. In the sixth version, the good basic structure of the PMBOK® Guide was essentially retained, while at the same time being made more realistic and practicable. Even if this is not immediately suspected with the now 978 pages.
The PMBOK® Guide is now available in 12 languages. Besides English also in German, Italian, French, Russian, Hindi and Chinese. A truly global standard.
