The certificate for well-founded knowledge in project management
To be eligible for the „Certified Associate in Project Management“ CAPM® credential, each candidate has to prove two elements of professional competences and has to adhere to a code of ethics:
1. Experience in project management
Each candidate needs a certain knowledge in project management. You can prove this either by practical experience or by theoretical eduaction in project management.
Option 1: Practical experience
You have high school diploma, secondary school finals or
a similar school leaving certificate.
You can verify 1500 hours of professional experience in project teams.
Option 2: Theoretical education
You have high school diploma, secondary school finals or
a similar school leaving certificate.
You can prove at least 23 hours of theoretical education in project management
according to the standards of PMI®. But any other project management seminar
you have visited in the past counts as well.
2. Sound know-how in project management
PMI® tests your knowldege in a very demanding exam. Candidates have to answer 150 questions on all areas of project management within 3 hours. PMI® organizes the exam centrally. You can do it any time in one of the prometric testing centers nearby your place.
3. Ethically correct behaviour
A CAPM® is expected to behave ethically correct according to the standards of PMI® at any time. This concerns many different areas such as behaving during conflicts of interest. The knowledge of these standards is checked in the test as well. A violation against these rules can lead to a loss of the status CAPM®.
